Torcilacqua - (Italy)

Torcilacqua logo

Matteo Mariotti took over the Torcilacqua company in June 2018 after having worked for many years in the family business. Born in 1979, married and with two daughters, he decided to pursue his dream and produce wine! A passion that was born as a boy and which today has finally materialized in our Torcilacqua wines. The company is located in Badia a Passignano, in the heart of Chianti Classico with a view of the surrounding vineyards and woods. The property extends in a single body on the south, south-west side of the hill, in front of the historic abbey at an average altitude of 350m above sea level. The perfect exposure, the microclimatic conditions of the area and the balanced texture of the soil allow us to obtain grapes of the highest quality for the production of wines with great structure. The vineyards have an average age of 20 years, and the forms of pruning adopted are guyot and spurred cordon. The average plant density per hectare is 5,000 plants. The varieties cultivated at the moment are Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with which three distinct wines are produced.

Beautiful, bright, ruby-red color. Typical, pronounced nose of (young) Sangiovese with plenty of red and black fruit accompanied by hints of leather and a touch of spices. Deliciously tight and structured style characteristic of Chianti Classico. Perfect balance between power, fruit, and finesse. The wine grips nicely on the palate and leads into a long and beautifully balanced finish.

A deliciously dark and intense ruby-red color. Ripe nose with plenty of red and especially black fruit. Forest berries, blackcurrant, and noble tones of cedar, vanilla, toast, and leather. Fine impressions of violets and spices complete the ensemble. Brilliant balance and pleasant mouthfeel. Due to the significant amount of Merlot and the ripe character of the Cabernet, this wine is already very seductive even when young, although it still has a brilliant future ahead.

An intense and bright ruby-red color. The nose bursts with red and black fruits such as cherries, blackberries, cassis, and red currants, accompanied by floral notes of violets and more complex nuances of cedar, leather, and tobacco. Impressive structure that ensures a perfect balance between intense fruit, secondary impressions, and beautifully integrated tannins and acidity. Long and impressive finish. Be sure to give this wine a few years to reach its optimal complexity.
